Chemistry of Climate Change – 35824 – CHEM 015

This course is an introduction to the chemistry involved in climate change.  No background in chemistry is assumed, the relevant concepts will be developed as needed.  The course will discuss energy transformations, sources and sinks of carbon dioxide.  Using chemical principles, the course will explain the greenhouse effect and why carbon dioxide is the primary focus for climate change.  The evidence for climate change as well as the science behind the consequences will be examined.
