Join the Climate Change Core Pathways for a discussion on social media and our online world with Chris Hughes, co-founder of Facebook. The discussion will be hosted by Frank Foer, The Atlantic journalist and Georgetown visiting professor. Audience members are invited to submit their own questions to the discussion and invite parents and family at home to join their live stream.

This casual conversation will explore how Facebook and social media influence society and the ethics of privacy, information gathering, and publishing false information. In 2002, Hughes co-founded Facebook and acted as the de facto spokesperson for 5 years. After leaving Facebook, he was the editor-in-chief and publisher for The New Republic from 2012 to 2016

In May 2019, Hughes published an op-ed on the New York Times titled “It’s Time to Break Up Facebook.
