Core Pathway Examples

Two Core Requirements Fulfilled 

Students who enter the Core Pathway and need to fulfill two core requirements must take two modules of the same discipline in different semesters.

Two Elective Requirements Fulfilled 

Students who enter the Core Pathway and need to fulfill two core elective requirements may take any combination of four core pathway courses.

One Core Requirement One Elective Fulfilled

Students who enter the Core Pathway and need to fulfill one core requirement must take a module of the same discipline during different semesters.

Example One

 If a student needs their Humanities, Philosophy, Theology and History requirements fulfilled, their Core Pathway might look like:

Year One

FALL MODULE A:

FALL MODULE B:

SPRING MODULE A:

SPRING MODULE B:

Year Two

FALL MODULE A (Y2):

FALL MODULE B (Y2):

SPRING MODULE A (Y2):

This student will fulfill their Humanities requirement with their Fall module A and Spring module B courses and their Philosophy requirement with their Fall module B and Spring module A courses. They will fulfill their History requirement with their year-two Fall module B and year-two Spring module B courses, and their Theology requirement with their year-two Fall module A and year-two Spring module A courses.

Example Two

A student wants to fulfill three core requirements and one elective. Their Core Pathway may look like this:

Year One

FALL MODULE A:

SPRING MODULE A: 

SPRING MODULE B: 

Year Two 

FALL MODULE A (Y2):

FALL MODULE B (Y2):

This student will fulfill their Humanities requirement with their Fall module B and Spring module A courses. They will fulfill their Science requirement with their first-year Fall module A and second-year Fall module A science courses. They will fulfill the third core requirement in Theology with their Spring module B and year-two Spring module A courses. They will be able to count their year-two Fall module B and Spring module B classes as a three-credit elective.

Example Three

If a student needs two elective requirements fulfilled, their Core Pathway might look like:

This student will fulfill two elective requirements by taking any combination of four Core Pathway modules.
