Climate Change and California Wildfires

Author: Edward Holly

Caption: As a Southern California native who witnesses destructive wildfires run rampant across the state each year, I researched the root cause of this issue. This paper explores the impact climate change, more specifically global warming, has on the increasingly destructive wildfire seasons that California experiences every year. I suggest that to sufficiently address this growing issue, we must address the conditions that allow for such wildfires to thrive, namely the longer fire seasons and drought conditions in California caused by global warming and increasing greenhouse emissions. Wildfires are a climate change issue.
